Plot summary
Alton Meyer, eight years old, sits in a car reading comic books while an Amber alert names him and his reported abductor, Roy. Roy and his childhood friend Lucas are carrying the boy away from the Ranch, the congregation in San Angelo, Texas, where Pastor Calvin Meyer raised him. When the FBI executes a warrant at the church, Calvin sends parishioners to retrieve Alton. Paul Sevier, an NSA communications analyst, asks Calvin how encoded satellite transmissions reached his sermons. Calvin says the boy speaks in tongues and that he took the numbers as coming from God. The boy is extremely photosensitive, and the agents pursuing him have noticed his abilities.
