Plot summary
Elizabeth Scott teaches school, and Donovan Darcy is a businessman and a philanthropist. The two are in love and have just become engaged. Their wedding is planned for the autumn and is meant to be small, but the arrangements grow more elaborate week by week. Donovan is caught up in his work, and he has less and less time for Elizabeth. The differences in their backgrounds and temperaments come back to her, and she asks herself whether she should marry Mr. Darcy.
