Manhattan Romance (2014) on Netflix

Plot summary

Danny is shooting a documentary made of interviews with acquaintances and strangers about their love lives. One of his subjects, Theresa, is a flirty neo-hippie who has only open relationships: she breaks off their conversations to connect intensely with other people and keeps their own encounters from turning sexual, which mystifies him. His best friend Carla lives with Emmy, a political strategist, and listens as he describes his unreturned feelings for Theresa. At a wedding reception, Danny's older relatives, seeing that he came without a date, discuss his life, and his mother's boyfriend shares more about her private life than Danny cares to hear.
