Plot summary
In Chinna Anaikatti, Madha Gaja Raja takes over from his father, Inspector Srinivasan, in guarding Theekuchi Thirumugam and Thirumugam's daughter Madhavi, whom Shanmugapandi's thugs are hunting, and installs the pair at his own house. A bond grows between Raja and Madhavi, but Srinivasan treats Thirumugam with insult, and father and daughter quit the village while Raja is away. Kalyanasundaram, who runs Goodbye Travels, is fighting to save his marriage; his wife Gayathri, pushed by her mother, wants a divorce over his failure to mention a mortuary van business before they wed. He invites both women to the wedding of his school teacher's daughter. On the way they cross paths with Shanmugam, the sub-collector Ramesh, and Raja, once teammates in a school relay race, and with Maya, Ramesh's sister-in-law, who shows an interest in Raja.

- A release planned for September 2013 was put on hold after an Australian national won a court injunction to stop it; he claimed Gemini Film Circuit had agreed to pay him for providing production facilities during the film's Australian schedule and had not.
- Karthika Nair joined Madha Gaja Raja as lead actress in April 2012, but after Sundar C altered the script to give Vishal a single role and two leading actresses instead of one, she left, feeling her role had been significantly diminished.
- Taapsee Pannu was signed on and then left soon afterwards, citing date clashes with her commitments for another film's promotional activity; Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who had worked with producers Gemini Film Circuit on Podaa Podi (2012), and Anjali were consequently cast.
