Plot summary
In 1975, the scientist Chiranjeevi builds a telephone that can call people in the past, one call for each date he selects. In Chennai, gangsters Antony and Jackie Pandian share an enemy, Ekambaram. Ekambaram kills Antony in a club for having killed his brother, and Chiranjeevi dies in the crossfire; Jackie becomes the city's leading gangster and raises Mark, Antony's son, as his own. Twenty years later Mark is a mechanic in Royapuram, in love with his neighbor Ramya, and he blames Antony for his mother Vedhavalli's death. He plans to sell his garage and leave, but Jackie forbids it; Ramya's mother, learning whose son he is, tells him to stay away from her daughter. A drunken Mark then finds the telephone and learns what it can do, while Jackie's son Madhan wants the device for himself.
