Plot summary
Sathya draws the comic strip Maaveeran for the Tamil newspaper Dhina Thee but lets a colleague take the credit. Unable to stand up for himself since his father was killed fighting the system, he is defended by Nila, a sub-editor at the paper. The government moves Sathya, his widowed mother Eeshwari, his sister Raaji and their neighbors into a new high-rise whose flaws appear within hours. Eeshwari confronts Dhanraj, the contractor, and Paguthi, the council member. A drunk Dhanraj forces open the bathroom door while Raaji is inside and strikes Eeshwari. Sathya comes at Dhanraj with a pencil and is humiliated, and a fall from the top of the building leaves him with a serious head injury. He wakes hearing a voice that tells him what to do and turns him toward the housing minister M. N. Jeyakodi.
