Plot summary
Danny Alvarez would rather be painting graffiti than working in his family's East Los Angeles auto shop, where his father Miguel builds the lowriders that matter so much to the neighborhood. Danny's mother is dead, and after he is arrested for tagging a bridge and has to be bailed out, father and son grow further apart. Miguel's other son, Francisco, known as Ghost, has just been released from a long prison term, and he and Miguel are at odds as well. Danny takes up with Lorelai, a young photographer who opens another route for his art, and he and Ghost plan a car of their own for the Elysian Park lowrider competition, against Miguel's legendary Green Poison.
