Plot summary
This documentary follows Superman from comic books to television and movie theaters, gathering archival footage and interviews with the actors, directors and producers who worked on his many incarnations. Among those interviewed are actors who played Superman in different decades, along with others who played the people around him. Voices from inside the franchise recall the versions they helped make, while figures from outside it, including a comic book creator and a musician, add their own perspectives. A narrator carries the account across the decades, and television series, animated shows and film serials take their place alongside the feature films in the character's long run on screen.
