Plot summary
A detective named Ben Chaney has been humiliated and has little standing left in post-Katrina New Orleans. He keeps a night watch on Drag Hammerman, a suspect in a series of murders. While Chaney sits on that stakeout, Corey Little comes to him as a ghost. She is a cellist, she is dead, and she asks him to find the man who killed her. Her request offers him a way back from his humiliation. Chaney takes up the case and works back through the hours before her death, with a client who is also the victim and the man he is already watching.
