Plot summary
Sumo is an ancient sport and Japan's national pastime, and it has traditionally been reserved for men. Hiyori Kon, who is twenty years old, is one of the few women who practice the sport. She is a prodigy in sumo and a champion, but professional competition is barred to her, and at twenty-one she will have to retire. She fights the tradition and the stigma that stand in her way, and she meets obstacles both inside the ring and outside it. Her aim is to help change the sport in Japan and to win her own place in the ring.
