Land of Hope (2018) on Netflix

Plot summary

In postwar Finland, Veikko Naskali survives an ambush in the Continuation War and, badly wounded, is sent to a convalescence facility that houses soldiers and horses. Anni Malmberg, whose brother Aarne died in the war, travels there looking for her horse Liinu, which the war has left traumatized and which no longer recognizes her. Veikko has been tending the animal, which served in his unit, and he tells Anni he saw Aarne die. Anni's father Kalevi, a bakery owner, has turned a pregnant war widow out of the factory and will not put Anni in charge in Aarne's place. Veikko intends to claim a homestead the government grants to wounded veterans who marry, and Anni chooses to leave home with him.
