Plot summary
Charles Thayer, who runs Horne's department store, is impressed by the portfolio of Katya Yarno, a window dresser whose designs carry sexy, slightly kinky themes, and hires her. While she builds her first display, people gather on the street to watch, and Jack Price takes notice of her. He works at a medical center across the street, keeps watching her until late in the evening, follows her home and peers in through the window. Thayer then offers her a six-month contract. That night Jack telephones her apartment, says the two of them are on the same track, and tells her to stay on it.

- Director Karen Arthur said the producers re-edited her final cut of Lady Beware to appeal to the exploitation crowd, splicing in outtakes of a naked Diane Lane after some distributors asked for more sex.
- Karen Arthur began Lady Beware in the late 1970s, after The Mafu Cage screened at Cannes and landed her a four-picture deal at Universal; when Universal rejected the project it ended up having "100 homes, 17 drafts, and eight writers."
