Plot summary
In 2010s Moscow, the cellist Vladimir Chizhov, known as Uncle Vova, and Tolik, his teenage nephew, encounter an alien who travels with a device that teleports. Tolik presses a button on the machine, and the two are beamed to Plyuk, a desert planet in the Kin-dza-dza galaxy. Plyuk has no resources left, and its people are split into Patsaks and Chatlanians: a single match counts as the greatest treasure, and the color of a visitor's pants decides how the locals treat them. The travelers encounter Bi and Wef, locals who ride a pepelats, along with their robot Abradox, and the pair sets out across the planet to find a way home.
