Plot summary
Gerda's parents and her brother run a shop selling magic trinkets, and Gerda, who has no powers, helps them. Their country is ruled by King Harald, an inventor who blames the Snow Queen for nearly taking his family and wants machines to replace magic. He tricks the magicians into his castle and sends them through a portal into Mirrorlands, the Snow Queen's realm, which lets no one back. Gerda's family is among them, and Gerda is jailed for trying to stop him. In Mirrorlands the magicians trapped there agree to work with the Snow Queen, and her phantom is sent to ask Gerda for help.

- According to Pro Films general director Emil Simeonov, The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands became the best foreign independent animation release in Bulgaria in 25 years, earning more than 100,000 levs and topping DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon 3 on its premiere weekend.
- American animation veteran Robert Lence, previously a script writer and story board consultant for Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks, co-directed the film with Aleksey Tsitsilin — the first time a Hollywood animator co-directed a Russian animated film.
- A trilateral liaison signed on 12 September 2018 at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, between the Russian Export Center, Wizart Animation and China's HY Media/Cayie International Media Group, was one of the first times China became a joint partner in producing a Russian animated film.
- To build the film's cloud system, the layout department modelled each cloud and staged the shot, the effects department used volume processing tools for complex shapes, and 3D noise displacement and smoothing plus DreamWorks' OpenVDB library formatted the data.
- The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands became the first Russian film to receive $1 million at the international box office in 2019.
