Plot summary

Randy Bobbs is an accounting executive whose life has brought him heartbreak and the loss of his job. He adopts a dog named Koko, and the two bond at once. The companionship of his new friend gives him a fresh hold on life and on love, and he heals from his wounds. What he feels for Koko he calls the purest love he has known, holding no malice and no wish for gain. That attachment is strong enough that he decides marriage is the one proper way to declare it, and he files a court case asking to be allowed to legally marry Koko.
