Plot summary
Jacob King is a Memphis, Tennessee, police officer whose violent street justice has earned him a reputation among his colleagues. As a child he watched his twin brother murdered in front of him, and he seems indifferent to the memory. Young, attractive women are now being killed across the city, and the murderer Lazerus leaves cryptic clues drawn from astrology at the scenes. Another killer, Billy Joe Hill, is also taking women's lives. King works the cases with his partner, Detective Storm Anderson, and the coroner. FBI agent Frankie Miller arrives and makes plain that she does not approve of his methods.
