Plot summary
At Amritsar, Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer orders his troops to open fire on a peaceful gathering of civilians at Jallianwala Bagh, and hundreds die. The British suppress truthful reporting, destroy issues of Punjab Samachar that documented the shooting, and announce that the dead were violent rebels who attacked the army, though no soldier was harmed. C. Sankaran Nair is a barrister and a member of the Viceroy's Council, recently knighted by the Crown, and the colonial government assigns him to investigate the massacre, expecting a report that favors the British. Law student Dilreet Gill retrieves a surviving issue of Punjab Samachar and shows him what it recorded. Nair denounces Dyer at the Viceroy's Council, where his objections go unheeded and he is cautioned against defying the Crown.

- Kesari Chapter 2 drew two complaints: poet and YouTuber Yahya Bootwala accused the makers of plagiarising his poem for a scene that Dilreet Gill's speech on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre allegedly lifted, and in June 2025 an FIR was filed against the makers for allegedly insulting the freedom history of Bengal.
