Plot summary
Keith Lemon, an aspiring entrepreneur from Leeds, has spent twenty years on the Securipole, a metal pole meant to keep cars from being stolen. Rosie, his girlfriend, suggests he sell a few poles around Leeds before going after anything bigger. He ignores her and takes the invention to a convention in London, leaving his friend Dougie in charge of the business. No investor shows interest, and a fellow inventor named Kushvinder offers him the rights to a buttonless touch-screen phone that has already failed. Meanwhile, a million Securipoles arrive at the Leeds office, ordered from a benefactor named Evil Steve, who is notorious for how he treats clients who do not pay. Rosie and Dougie cannot reach Keith or cover the bill, so she sends Dougie to London to look for him.
