Plot summary
Old Dolio Dyne, 26, works as an accomplice to her parents, Robert and Theresa, who run petty thefts and scams out of Los Angeles. The family owes $1,500 in back rent on their home, a leaking room attached to a soap factory. Their plan: fly to New York on contest tickets, then claim a lost bag on the return and collect the travel insurance payout, $1,575. Old Dolio sits apart from her parents on the flight home while they talk with Melanie, a young woman from Los Angeles. Before landing, Robert and Theresa tell Melanie about the scheme and have her pose as their daughter at the baggage claim. The airline says the check may take six weeks, so the family hunts for other ways to raise the money, and Melanie joins in.
