Plot summary
Kolkata is readying itself for the Durga Puja festival when Vidya Bagchi, seven months pregnant and a software engineer, lands from London. Weeks earlier her husband Arnab had come to the city on an assignment for the National Data Center, and their daily calls stopped without explanation. She files a missing person report at a local police station, and Sub-Inspector Satyaki Sinha, known as Rana, offers his help. The guest house where Arnab was to stay has nothing for her, and the agency he worked for holds no record of him. Agnes D'Mello, who heads human resources at the agency, notes that he resembles a former employee there. Vidya refuses to stop looking.
