Plot summary
Julie Makowsky returns from a trip with her twins, Nicholas and Nicole, and finds Henry, her husband, in bed with another woman. Their marriage was already falling apart. The children believe in magic and share a language of their own. When Julie discovers that Nicholas has lung cancer, she looks for a faith healer in Poland, a man said to cure with his hands. There she meets Alexei, a charismatic healer, and a romantic relationship develops between them.
