Plot summary

Leslie Hindenberg has just begun her senior year of high school. She goes to a doctor about a mole and comes away convinced that she has only six weeks left, so she decides to lose her virginity before then. Her father is the physical education coach at her school, and the boys there keep away from the coach's daughter because they are afraid of him. Alan Holt, a teenager at the same school, is frustrated in his own way: his friends boast about their own encounters, he thinks about sex constantly, and he keeps looking for a chance to lose his virginity.
