Plot summary
Tom and Jerry are contract killers who also hold day jobs at Billy's used car dealership. Tom has been at it for years; Jerry is new to the work, and the two see the profession in very different ways. One night they sit in a Chicago bar waiting for the go-ahead to kill Stanley. Jerry wants to act immediately; Tom refuses, and Stanley keeps them amused with jokes. The story then moves back to 1984, when Jerry was a young man at the dealership and walked with Tom and Karl, an old friend of Tom's. Karl tells them about a local gangster who bit off his nephew's nose, and Tom says he will look into the attack.
