Plot summary
Giancarlo Cartelloni, a tycoon, wants a residential area built where a park stands, and Giulio Verme campaigns against the plan. Giulio's own parents had spent his childhood glued to television and neglected him, and he grew to hate the medium. He left home early and became an environmentalist, animalist and vegan. While studying environmental science he met Franca, another activist, graduated with honors and moved in with her. Years of failing to stir the people around him left him disillusioned, and he thought Franca fell short of her own ideals. She went away to volunteer for two weeks.
