Plot summary
Psychiatrist Rathi Devi treats Major Kathiravan, an Indian Army officer whose temper has kept him from duty. The two fall in love, and she urges him to visit his village and spend time with his father Rangaswamy and his sister. Kathiravan has long resented his father for borrowing money, but he learns that his sister's fiancé Kesavan's family expects the wedding expenses to be covered. He promises to arrange the money and applies for a loan in Chennai, where every bank turns him down. On his uncle's advice he brings Rangaswamy along and applies in his father's name, with the same result. A stranger who calls himself a loan agent offers to secure the loan with forged papers for a commission. When the account is drained, he sets out to find whoever took the money.
