Plot summary
Cleo Eastman is a strong student in the shadow of her popular older sister, Molly. Mr. Perkins, her science teacher, gives her a project: identify a mystery substance and turn it into crystal form. While Cleo works at home during a dinner for Molly's lacrosse team, a moth distracts her, and spilled chemicals produce a steam that makes the moth invisible. The moth escapes, returns to a bathroom light, and falls into an antacid cup that Molly drinks from. By morning Molly cannot see herself, and Cleo explains what happened. Molly needs to attend school for her lacrosse team's season opener, which college scouts will watch. On Halloween she tries to hide her condition with a costume, but it turns invisible too, so Cleo wears it and pretends to be Molly at school.
