Plot summary
Anton is a Swedish doctor who divides his time between a small town in Denmark and a refugee camp in Sudan, where he treats women wounded by a warlord's militia. He and his wife Marianne are separated and considering a divorce. Their son Elias is tormented by a bigger classmate until Christian, a new boy at the school, steps in. Christian has moved from London with his father Claus after the death of his mother, and he holds Claus responsible. When a mechanic named Lars slaps Anton in front of the children, Anton takes the blows without answering them, because he believes fighting back would put him on the same footing as Lars. Christian is ready to strike back and wants Elias alongside him.
