Plot summary
Matt Stone lives by persuading women who are alone and wealthy to put their savings into an investment scheme, then killing them and starting again with someone new. As a boy he ended his mother's abusive boyfriend's life in self-defense. He decides Ann Moy, an alluring single mother, is the perfect next target for his scam. Ann's adolescent daughter Tina is not taken in by the man, and she wants her mother to keep her distance from him.

During one take of the scene in which William Shatner's character hangs Harold Sakata's character to death, Sakata was nearly hanged for real by a tight rope, and the crew saved his life thanks to his "superior neck development". Shatner broke his finger supporting Sakata's weight but didn't find out until later.- The band Prolapse sampled the line "I want you to meet someone, Tina - this is Matthew Stone" for their song "Tina This is Matthew Stone", the closing track of their debut album Pointless Walks to Dismal Places.
