Plot summary
Aldo Moro, the president of the Christian Democracy, the party that has governed Italy since the end of the Second World War, is kidnapped on March 16, 1978. The Red Brigades hold him, and the account follows the events of those 55 days. It leaves out theories that emerged only in later years, among them an intelligence officer of SISMI being near Via Fani that morning, and dealings between the state and criminal groups, including the Camorra and the Banda della Magliana, then still operating, to locate where Moro was held. Two choices also depart from the accepted historical record: the terrorists wear no ski masks, and Don Stefani enters the Red Brigades' hideout, which never occurred.
