Plot summary
Onoff is a famous writer who has published nothing for years and lives as a recluse. On a stormy night he is picked up by the police with no identification, out of breath and with no clear memory of what has just happened. He is brought to an isolated rural police station, where he says he is expected at the Ministry of Culture in the morning. The Inspector, who has read his books and quotes them, is suspicious. A killing has taken place near Onoff's house, and the victim has not been identified. Onoff cannot account for the last four hours, and through the night the Inspector interrogates him to establish what happened.
