Plot summary
Grieving the death of her husband, Helen Coltrane and her teenage children, Conrad and Lenore, are taken in by Daryl, her reclusive, gun-loving brother-in-law, at his car salvage yard. Sarah Parsons, a foster child, arrives there saying Helen's late husband had promised her a home with the family, and Helen lets her stay. Then the yard turns grim: Lenore's pet duckling is found dead, and a camera of Daryl's records Helen in the shower. Daryl is restoring a Ford Fairlane in the yard, Conrad is building a heavy sheet metal art piece, and wolves roam the land around the salvage yard.
