Plot summary
In the summer of 1991, Daniel Middleton is sent to Cape Cod to stay with his aunt following his father's death. There he meets Hunter Strawberry, the town's bad boy. When police approach the convenience store where Hunter works, Hunter asks Daniel to hide his marijuana, and the two go into business together selling drugs supplied by a man named Dex, who warns them of fatal consequences if he is crossed. McKayla, Hunter's younger sister, is the girl most crushed on in Cape Cod. She escapes her boyfriend at the drive-in and asks Daniel to drive her home. Hunter tells Daniel to stay away from her, but Daniel kisses her at the summer carnival, and her boyfriend and his friends beat him for it. Hunter starts seeing Amy, the daughter of Sergeant Frank Calhoun.
