Plot summary
Stone, Tony, Dan and Rockney are four American friends who need money. In a sluggish economy with high unemployment, they gather for a fishing trip that is a cover for a plan to fly to Colombia and rob a drug lord. They meet Clint, who provides weapons and target practice. Apart from Stone, the men bring no relevant training, and they do not take the job seriously. Flown into a jungle, they watch their target, Serrano, and the staff and visitors at his villa from a hidden vantage point. They talk about whether they could bring themselves to kill anyone, and about what they will do with their shares.

- Stewart Raffill got the idea for High Risk while hired to make a documentary interviewing people in Spanish prisons jailed for smuggling hashish out of Morocco. He later found out his financiers were drug dealers who wanted to know how to smuggle hashish out of North Africa.
- Lindsay Wagner recalled that when she stepped out of a car, people began shouting "Mujer Bionica" at her, and she couldn't imagine how they recognized her. Then she looked around and saw television antennas on all the houses.
- The film's distributor, American Cinema Releasing, went broke when High Risk was released, so the movie was not widely seen. It did, however, get Stewart Raffill the job of making The Ice Pirates.
