Plot summary
Chesty O'Conner works as a riveter and carries a grudge against Chief Petty Officer Biff Martin. To needle him, Chesty talks his best friend Droopy into enlisting too, and both end up aboard the battleship USS Arizona. Chesty is caught away without leave after visiting Dorothy, Martin's sister, and a court-martial follows. Angry at how he is treated, he speaks against the Navy in front of the crew, and the other sailors aboard the Arizona keep their distance. The Navy cooperated fully in the making, which used the USS Arizona, the San Diego training station and the Bremerton navy yard, with naval personnel among the extras.
