Plot summary
Philip Hawk Hawkins thinks about killing vampires at every hour of the day, an obsession that costs him his place in the Army when he stakes another soldier with a two-by-four. He returns to his hometown of Santa Muerte, California, and takes a job as a night security guard, where the quiet shifts leave him bored. One night vampires appear at the building where he works, and the people around him will not believe what he saw. The single exception is his friend Rev, a dimwitted vegan pacifist. The two of them join forces to save their hometown from the vampires.
