Plot summary
A comedic documentary in which comedians, musicians and actors recount their own experiences with hallucinogens. Their anecdotes are acted out in animation and reenactments, and the documentary sets those stories alongside the science, history, cultural impact and possible future uses of psychedelics. A conversation at the Nantucket Film Festival in 2009, where people told stories about the different effects hallucinogens produce, gave rise to the plan for a film that would gather them. More than a hundred interviews were recorded over about eleven years, mostly at the interviewees' own homes and apartments, and one took place in a Beverly Hills house its owner called the acid house.
