Plot summary
Roy Halston Frowick, called Halston, makes hats for society women at Bergdorf Goodman, among them the pillbox hat Jacqueline Kennedy wears to the 1961 presidential inauguration. He starts his own fashion house in 1968, and its loose, flowing designs suit women who want to dress freely. In 1973 a deal with the Norton Simon conglomerate secures his place as America's premier designer and lets him launch a first fragrance that becomes a hit. The story is told through a fictional researcher in the archives, with interviews and old footage.
