Plot summary
Ramprasad Dashrathprasad Sharma, a chartered accountant who sings, lives in Bombay with his sister Ratna and has no work. His uncle Kedar tells him of an opening at Urmila Traders, the firm of Bhavani Shankar, a traditional man who dislikes modern dress and sport and distrusts any man without a mustache. On Kedar's advice Ramprasad appears in a kurta, claims no interest in games, and is hired. He soon takes a day off to attend a hockey match, telling his employer that his mother is ill. Bhavani Shankar turns up at the same match and sees him. Confronted, Ramprasad says the man at the ground was his clean-shaven twin brother Lakshmanprasad, a singer. Bhavani Shankar believes him and brings the twin in to give Urmila music lessons.
