Erica Gavin
Biography
Erica Gavin is an American actress who won the title role in Russ Meyer's Vixen! (1968), the first mainstream X-rated film made outside pornography, after answering an advertisement in Variety that she saw while at her dentist's office. Born and raised in Hollywood, the daughter of character actor Fred Graff, she was propelled to sudden stardom when the picture became a commercial and critical success. Only two further films followed, Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) and the Roger Corman women-in-prison movie Caged Heat (1974), before she left Hollywood and stayed away for nearly thirty years. She later took tentative steps toward returning, attending a retrospective of Vixen and setting up her own website.
