Trailer

Plot summary

Marieme is sixteen, the daughter of an African-French family in a poor suburb of Paris. She struggles at school, which puts her on a vocational track, and because her mother works long hours, her older brother Djibril, who is abusive, runs the home. Marieme also looks after their younger sisters, Bebe and Mini. The day she is told she will be learning a trade, a group of girls approaches her as she leaves school: Lady, who leads them, with Fily and Adiatou. They ask whether she would like to spend a day with them in the city center. Marieme says no at first, then changes her mind and goes. She starts to dress and act as they do, and Lady gives her a gold necklace bearing the name Vic.
