Plot summary
Sam Baker locks his daughter Henrietta in the basement as punishment for the cat she killed with scissors. He tells his wife the child may be under a curse or spell; she rejects the idea. Henrietta cries below while an unseen attacker murders her parents upstairs, comforted by a clown doll that plays lullaby music. Two decades later, radio enthusiast Paul Rogers records two voices screaming on his equipment and works out where the transmission came from. He drives to that spot with his girlfriend Martha. Valkos, the caretaker, warns them off and calls them snoopers. They get inside and find four intruders already there: the Dalen siblings Jim, Tina and Mark, and Mark's girlfriend Susan. Jim's voice, played back on Paul's tape, is the same one Paul heard.

- Italian distributor Achille Manzotti renamed the film La Casa 3 - Ghosthouse, part of a 1980s Italian trend of titling horror films "La Casa" that began by retitling The Evil Dead. Producer Massaccesi said that without the new title, hardly anyone might have gone to see it.
- Lenzi wrote the story in January 1987 and found Italian and American funding through producer Roberto Di Girolamo, who later left the project over financial issues; producer Massaccesi then entered the project.
