Plot summary
Bernard Bottle works at a high-end auction house in New York, where his boss, Mr. Flaxman, makes unreasonable demands that keep Bernard from his family. He misses the eighth birthday of his daughter Eve and, having failed to bring her a present, offers her an antique box from their home. His wife Julie leaves him, and Mr. Flaxman fires him the next day. Bernard wipes the dust off the box, and Flora appears, a genie who has spent more than 2,000 years inside it and can grant him unlimited wishes.
