Plot summary
Seven inches of snow shut down the elementary school in Beansboro, and while the adults grumble about ice and slush, the children head outside to play. Holly DeCarlo, a young aspiring magician, is rehearsing a magic act with her friend Charles, a tone-deaf boy with a knack for climatology, when the wind carries her hat onto a snowman. The snowman comes to life as Frosty, and the hat is the old silk hat of the holiday song. Then Summer Wheeze, an aerosol spray that makes snow disappear on contact, arrives in town, a threat to a snowman's existence. Its inventor, Mr. Twitchell, wants the town's favor and the crown of the Beansboro Winter Carnival. As Beansboro takes up the spray, Holly and Charles become Frosty's protectors.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Frosty Returns (1992)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Frosty Returns was made by Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video with Peanuts director Bill Melendez, not by Rankin/Bass, and it ignores the 1969 special's universe, using different characters, setting and voice actors.
- Because Lorne Michaels produced it, most of the Frosty Returns cast were sketch comedians from his other shows: Andrea Martin of The Hart and Lorne Terrific Hour, and Saturday Night Live cast members Jan Hooks and Brian Doyle-Murray, while John Goodman had frequently guest-hosted SNL.
- 2023 was the last year CBS aired Frosty Returns; when CBS lost the rights to the original Frosty the Snowman to NBC in 2024, CBS dropped this special and NBC declined it too, pairing the original with Shrek the Halls and the 1966 Grinch instead.
