Plot summary
Grovetown, Maryland, is a small town where a teenager kills himself and other residents follow, each of them driven by a curse that passes to whoever witnesses a death: from then on they see a double of themselves that no one else can see. Lindsay, a churchgoing high school girl, struggles to reconcile her faith with her wish to see the world outside, and she looks for what ties the deaths to Aidan, an outcast who has come back to town and whose brother was the first to die. Dylan, the pastor's son, blames Aidan's family and turns the congregation into a vigilante group.
