Plot summary
Small birds take places one by one on a powerline, and the wire fills with squabbling over room. Bully, an egg-shaped blue bird, settles in first. Chipper lands close beside him. Snob, Neurotic and eleven other birds crowd on, each jostling for a spot. A large, awkward bird perched on a nearby power pole honks and waves at the flock, interrupting the dispute. The little birds answer by imitating his call and his plumage, with Bully, Chipper, Snob and Neurotic leading the mockery. When the stranger calls to them a second time, the flock edges further along the wire and chatters about him.
