Plot summary
A boarding school's third form cannot stand the boys of a neighboring Gymnasium, and each group thinks up pranks to get the better of the other. The two groups cannot come within a hundred meters of each other without trouble. When pupils from the high school take the Gymnasium boys' essays and burn them, everyday school life gets out of hand. The boys also rehearse a play for the school theater. Around them are secrets: about their teacher Justus, and about a man called Nichtraucher, who lives in a disused non-smoking railway carriage. Among the third form are Martin, Matz and Uli.
