Plot summary
Angela has died, and Jochen is a widower. The Immenhof itself has been closed by the authorities and is waiting to be auctioned, while the forester's house is now home to Oma Jantzen and to Angela's younger sisters, Dick and Dalli. Dalli has started a pony circus in the barn with the children of the village, hoping to raise money that would rescue the manor house. Dick has stopped expecting Ethelbert to return, because more than a year has gone by without a letter from him. Ethelbert is already on his way, and he brings with him Ralf, a friend from his university days.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Helmut Thielicke, then Hamburg University's director of systematic theology, objected to the wedding scene in which the real pastor Meier married Paul Klinger and Karin Andersen, in their roles, on camera; Volker von Collande had asked Meier because no actor had been cast. Thielicke protested in an essay to Bishop Lilje and the Sonntagsblatt.
- Arca production chief Fiebig defended pastor Meier by saying the Malente church wedding was not mere theatre but a "real wedding" caught by the camera: Paul Klinger and Karin Andersen had married at the registry office two years earlier and now completed their church wedding on film.
