By 2007 crime has climbed so far that cities such as Los Angeles cannot be lived in. They have turned into Hell Zones, held by violent street gangs, and the one in Los Angeles answers to a boss named Drexal. The district once carried the name Zone of Personal Freedom and now shelters criminal activity. For his crowds of underlings Drexal stages no-holds-barred fights in the Death Ring, where the victor takes the glory. Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Firepower (1993)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Gary Daniels turned down PM Entertainment's offer for Firepower because the salary was too low and he had no interest in another deathmatch movie, then signed after the company's executives insisted he read the script. He also asked that his fights be choreographed by his own martial arts instructor, Winston Omega.
- Firepower marked the acting debut of professional wrestler Jim Hellwig, best known as "The Ultimate Warrior," who trained for three weeks with karate instructor Richard Rabago and the film's fight coordinator Art Camacho before the shoot.
- The martial arts scenes got far less time than PM's car stunts: all the Death Ring fights were crammed into the last two days of filming, with all the masters done in a single day, and the actors performed each whole fight in a continuous take in front of the same three cameras.
- The film's second chase features a GM Futurliner, one of the vehicle model's very few appearances in live-action fiction and possibly the only one.
- Gary Daniels had no personal issues with his co-star Chad McQueen, but the film's director and producer Richard Pepin was dissatisfied with McQueen's work ethic.
