Plot summary
When Robert goes to Italy to perfect his research, he encounters a homeless man unlike anyone he has met before. Confused and overwhelmed, Robert trails the man and then disappears. His father Janez, left without news, calls Matej, the elder son he has not spoken to in years. The two share conflicts that were never settled, yet Matej agrees to help and the pair set off for Italy. Irina, Janez's wife, is demented and cannot be left at home alone, so Ana, Matej's wife, and the couple's daughter Veronica move in with her while the men are away.
