Plot summary
The Díaz family controls much of Puerto Rico's poultry industry, and Arcadio, the patriarch, runs the farm and the household with the same firm hand. Teresa, his eldest, went away to study against his wishes and became an astrophysicist. Seven years later she comes home for a few weeks, meaning to tell her relatives something she has kept from them and to invite them to her marriage to Daniela. Back in the house, that plan falls apart, and she slides into the family's long habit of telling lies. No one in the household shows a true face. In that world of half-truths she meets Andrés, her nephew, who has Asperger's Syndrome and takes the same interest in the stars that she does.
